Esch Named Bumpers College Financial Officer

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – Larry Esch has been named new financial officer for the Dale Bumpers College of Agricultural, Food and Life Sciences at the University of Arkansas.

Esch joins the staff after spending the 12 previous years at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences in Little Rock.

His duties as financial officer include managing all financial transactions and obligations for campus funds allocated to the Bumpers College, financial planning and reporting as part of the dean's leadership team, providing oversight of campus allocations to departmental budget units within the college, and coordinating with financial officers in the Division of Agriculture for management and policies of oversight in jointly funded units.

"We're excited to have Larry become a member of our team," said Vayda. "His experience in financial management will be a tremendous asset. We are developing and maintaining nationally prominent programs in areas serving food, family and the environment, and Larry will help us effectively manage and utilize our resources."

"I am excited to be joining the team at the Bumpers College and I look forward to working with everyone to strengthen the financial position of the college for the future," said Esch.

Esch joined UAMS as accounting manager for financial analysis and reporting in 2001 and was named financial manager of nutrition services in 2006. As financial manager, he developed and prepared all financial and budget reports, and worked with management in preparing the annual budget. He also developed the process for the allocation of overhead costs to all areas of the department, and handled all purchasing, accounts receivable, inventory control, cash controls and travel.

Esch also worked as accounting supervisor at both Harvest Foods Inc. and Maverick Transportation Inc. Esch earned his bachelor's degree in accounting in 1983, a bachelor's degree in marketing in 1985 and master's degree in accounting in 2011, all from the University of Arkansas at Little Rock.
