FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – Kevin Kruger, president of the National Association of Student Personnel Administrators will speak at 4 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 30, in the Arkansas Union Theatre on the role that student affairs programs play in a university, and what the future may hold for student affairs professionals across the country.

Kruger brings an expert’s insight concerning student affairs leadership in higher education and the goal of his presentation is to strengthen the growing connection between student affairs and the academic side of the U of A.

“As a Tier 1 research university, and with our goal of becoming a Top 50 public research university, it is imperative that we create greater linkages between the division of student affairs and our major academic partners in the Higher Education Leadership Program,” said Danny Pugh, vice provost for student affairs and dean of students. “Hearing from national leaders in our discipline and field will expand our perspectives surrounding our current practices, allow us to anticipate future directions of the field, and create the next generation of best practices for the benefit of our students, academic alignments and institution.”

Kruger’s lecture presents a unique professional development opportunity for those within the Division of Student Affairs. Faculty, master’s and doctoral level students in higher education will also be able to meet with him to hear his perspective on what aspects of student affairs programs provide college students with the best university experience.

Kruger has been with the National Association of Student Personnel Administrators since 1994 as an associate executive director, and became its first president in 2012. Before joining the association, Kruger worked for 15 years at the University of Maryland College Park and the University of Maryland Baltimore County.

The National Association of Student Personnel Administrators was established in 1918 and comprises 13,000 members who work to meet the needs of students and universities through the continued development of student affairs programs.
