Brassworks Welcomes New Members in Fall Recital

FAYETTEVILLE -- The Boston Mountain Brassworks, the U of A resident faculty brass quintet, will present it's fall campus recital at 7:30 p.m. Friday, Nov. 8, in the Stella Boyle Smith Concert Hall in the Fine Arts Building. This performance will mark the debut of two new members of the Brassworks.

Cory Mixdorf joined the U of  A music department faculty this fall as trombone professor after the retirement of long-time professor of trombone Gerald Sloan.  Mixdorf brings a wealth of experience to the music department and Brassworks, holding graduate degrees from Indiana University and having performed nationally as a soloist, chamber and orchestral musician. More information on Mixdorf can be found at: http://music.uark.edu/7468.php

Also joining the Brassworks this fall is Chase Teague, graduate assistant in the trumpet studio of  Richard Rulli. Teague is a graduate of Texas Christian University, holding a bachelor's degree in music education, with an emphasis in trumpet. He was a student of Jon Burgess.

Continuing members of the Brassworks are Richard Rulli, trumpet, Timothy Thompson, horn, and Benjamin Pierce, tuba.

The Brassworks begins its eleventh season on campus with this performance. The program includes a wide variety of musical works by composers Jan Koetsier, William Lovelock, Leonard Bernstein, Witold Lutoslawski and Paquito D'Rivera.

Admission for the performance is free of charge and parking is available in the Stadium Drive parking deck.
