Teaching and Faculty Support Center Announces Awards

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. — The Teaching and Faculty Support Center (TFSC) at the University of Arkansas has announced faculty who were awarded funding in the 2013 center-sponsored teaching and research competition.  

A total of 60 grant proposals were received from faculty across campus, representing 31 departments or units. This year the TFSC introduced an additional grant category called Research in Teaching. These research funds are part of a three-year grant from Global Campus for research in teaching "best practices" in response to the university's top five Goals for Distance Education.

The recipients of Teaching Research "Best Practices" Grant Awards (up to $5,000 each):

• Kate Chapman, psychology

• Vicki Collet, curriculum and instruction

• Anna Jarrett, nursing

• David Jensen, mechanical engineering

• Cheryl Murphy, curriculum and instruction

• Jason Endacott, curriculum and Instruction

• Christine Mele, political science

• Ainong Shi, horticulture

• Jennifer Veilleux, psychology

The recipients of the Teaching Improvement Grant Awards (up to $2,000 each):

 • Elizabeth Dickerson, mathematical sciences

• Andrew Fidler, animal science

• James Greeson, music

• David Hyatt, supply chain management

• Linda Jones, world languages

• Jeannie Lee, drama

• Santiago Perez, architecture

• Joshua Smith, English

• Luis Restrepo, world languages
