Walmart Executive to Present 'Women in Leadership' Lecture

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. — Ann Bordelon, chief financial officer of Walmart Asia, will give a talk about women in leadership at noon on Thursday, Nov. 14, in an appearance presented by the Chancellor’s Commission on Women.

As the commission’s fall leadership speaker, Bordelon will make a presentation titled, “Women in Leadership” will take place in the Hembree Room of Willard J. Walker Hall. Lunch will be provided for those who register for the event; seating is very limited, so RSVP before Tuesday, November 12.

Bordelon was appointed as CFO of Walmart Asia in January 2013 after serving as chief financial officer for Sam’s Club, a $50 billion segment of Walmart. She joined Walmart in 2003 as assistant controller of Walmart Stores Inc.

After serving in several roles, including vice president and assistant controller as well as vice president — U. S. real estate finance, Bordelon was promoted in 2007 to senior vice president — chief audit executive, a global role.

Prior to joining Walmart, she served as a senior manager in Ernst & Young’s Assurance and Advisory Services Business where she served two Fortune 100 clients and other clients in the retail and consumer products industry. Bordelon also previously worked for Tyson Foods Inc. in a variety of finance and accounting positions.

Bordelon graduated from the University of Arkansas with a Bachelor of Science in business administration, majoring in accounting and computer information systems. She is also a 2004 graduate of Walmart’s Business Leadership Series and a 2006 graduate of Dartmouth College’s Amos Tuck School of Business’ Global Leadership 2020 program.

She is one of 15 executive women serving on Walmart’s President’s Global Council of Women Leaders. Bordelon is a co-chair of the Walmart Women in Finance group as well as an executive sponsor of the Sam’s Club Women Advisory Council. She has also served on the steering committee of the Walmart Women’s Officer Caucus.

She is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, Finance Executives International and Network of Executive Women. Additionally, Bordelon serves on the U.S. Financial Accounting Standards Board and International Accounting Standards Board Joint Working Group on Lease Accounting. Ann is also a member of the Sam M. Walton College of Business Dean’s Executive Advisory Board as well as a trustee for the Delta Gamma Foundation.

Established in 2010 by Chancellor G. David Gearhart, the primary mission of the Commission on Women is to be an advocate for the interest of the entire community of women at the University of Arkansas. This community includes undergraduate and graduate students, faculty, administrators, and both classified and non-classified staff.
