Webinar to Explore Strategies for Providing Effective Feedback to Students

University of Arkansas faculty and instructors are invited to a Blackboard Inc. Web conference Monday, Nov. 18, to address effective techniques for providing feedback to students to enhance learning in face-to-face and online learning environments.

"Strategies for Providing Effective Feedback to Students" will begin at noon, followed by a discussion at 1 p.m., in the Arkansas Union, rooms 512-514. Lunch will be provided. Please RSVP to the Global Campus by contacting Suson Wheeler at sswheele@uark.edu by Nov. 14.

After the webinar, University of Arkansas participants will be invited to discuss what they learned, describe how they might apply the techniques, and impart other suggestions about sharing feedback with students.

"Meaningful feedback is a critical element in the learning cycle that needs to be done frequently and consistently to ensure learning outcomes are achieved by all students," according to Blackboard's description of the webinar.

"Given there are only 24 hours in a day and not one minute more, how can instructors provide frequent, meaningful feedback to learners in a manner that is easily consumed and put into practice?  Attend this seminar to learn new techniques to provide feedback to students, missed opportunities to provide feedback, strategies to provide feedback that will be implemented by students, and what type of feedback students desire."

Although this webinar may focus more on online and distance education modes of instruction, the topics and tools presented also have applications for the face-to-face environment. All faculty and instructors are invited to attend.
