The University of Arkansas strongly opposes discrimination, sexual harassment and sexual violence. As such, the university wants to remind students, faculty and staff of some key policies.

Federal and state law, as well as University of Arkansas policy, prohibits sexual harassment and any other form of discrimination based on age, race, national origin, disability, religion, marital and parental status, veteran’s status and genetic information. University policy also prohibits discrimination on the basis of sexual orientation.

If you are a witness to possible sexual harassment or discrimination or believe that you have been sexually harassed or discriminated against, please immediately contact Shannon C. Haupt, compliance officer, Office of Equal Opportunity and Compliance, 4 West Avenue Annex Building. Haupt may be reached at 479-575-4019, or via email at titlevii@uark.edu.

The university policy regarding sexual harassment can be found at the following sites:

The university has designated Haupt as its Title IX coordinator, with overall responsibility for oversight of the university’s compliance with obligations under Title IX, including, but not limited to, investigating and responding to allegations of sexual assault.

For allegations of sexual assault by faculty, staff or other persons (other than students), the Title IX coordinator works with the U of A Police Department and the university's Pat Walker Health Center to ensure that allegations of sexual assault reported to university officials are investigated and that confirmed allegations are addressed through university personnel processes, as appropriate.

For allegations of sexual assault by students, the executive director of the university’s office of academic initiative and integrity and deputy Title IX coordinator, Monica Holland, coordinates with the UAPD and the Pat Walker Health Center to ensure that allegations of sexual assault reported to university officials are investigated and that allegations are processed through the university student judicial process, as appropriate. The executive director of the office of academic initiative and integrity reports to the vice provost for academic affairs, and provides information reports to the university Title IX coordinator on all allegations of sexual assault processed through the judicial process. Holland’s office is located in Room 634 of the Arkansas Union. She can also be reached at 479-575-5229, or via email at mholland@uark.edu.
