William and Mary Professor to Give Lecture on Politics of Education

Paul Manna, associate professor in the department of government and the Thomas Jefferson Program in Public Policy, College of William and Mary, will give a lecture about the politics of education at noon Friday, April 11, on the University of Arkansas campus.
Manna’s lecture is titled “Education Policy, Performance, and Democratic Accountability: State and Local Voting Behavior in Elections for State Education Chief.”
He has published work on federal education policy, school vouchers, charter schools and political parties and elections. His first book, School’s In: Federalism and the National Education Agenda, examined the development of federal and state education policy since the 1960s. His most recent book, Collision Course: Federal Education Policy Meets State and Local Realities, analyzes the development and implementation of the No Child Left Behind Act.
The lecture is part of the series sponsored by the department of education reform and is free and open to the public. It starts at noon in Room 343 of the Graduate Education Building, and RSVP is requested for a light lunch. RSVP online by 1 p.m. April 9.
