UASuccess Highlights From the Fall and Spring Training

This fall, the University of Arkansas released “UASuccess,” a new online appointment scheduling and retention tool for faculty, staff, and students. A major advantage of UASuccess is allowing faculty and staff to have access to pertinent information to better serve the students such as notes from meetings or emails, flags raised for academic concern, and kudos for encouraging good or outstanding academic performance.

Students also have one place to schedule appointments with faculty, academic advisers, scholarship advisers, and other support offices using UASuccess. Over 17,000 appointments were made during the fall semester for academic advising and teaching office hours. Faculty also raised 623 flags to alert students of academic warning and 637 to offer positive feedback about their academic performance.

UASuccess will offer four hands-on training sessions in February for faculty and staff. This training is for those new to UASuccess this spring or those who need more assistance navigating the system.

Topics will include managing profile, scheduling office hours and appointments, tracking individual and groups of students, and also the early alert tracking (flags and kudos). The following training sessions will be in the computer lab in Mullins Library Room 102:

  • Wednesday, Feb. 5, from 9:30-10:30 a.m.
  • Thursday, Feb. 6, from 3:30-4:30 p.m.
  • Wednesday, Feb. 12, from 8:30-9:30 a.m.
  • Thursday, Feb. 13, from 8:30-9:30 a.m.

The UASuccess program is asking for attendees to RSVP due to limited seating and to ensure they have access to UASuccess prior to training.

Read what faculty, staff, and students have to say about UASuccess:

  • "UASuccess makes it very easy to find information and make appointments. Before UASuccess I had to remember multiple websites and was always doing google searches to find the office I needed. Now I just log into my blackboard and all the information is right in one place." — Meg, junior in international studies and Middle East studies.
  • "UASuccess was a great tool to assist in advising students. The integration into Blackboard streamlined our process and provided important information in one convenient location. The functionality of the software allowed students greater access to advisors and vice versa." — Roman Ruiz, academic adviser, Fulbright College Advising Center.
  • “I was pleased with the results of UASuccess this past semester. The software was vastly improved over AdvisorTrac; students were happy with the ease of signing up for advising appointments with only a few glitches that were worked out. It is a great communication tool as well, and I look forward to exploring additional aspects of the software. A great investment in the advising future in Bumpers College and the university.” — Kathy Smith, assistant professor, Dale Bumpers College of Agricultural, Food and Life Sciences.
  • “UA Success has given us the ability to better track our students and to keep accurate records about each individual meeting. It has also allowed us to have inclusive data on how many students we see and why they visit our office.” — Jeff Hood, director, Walton College undergraduate programs office.
