Science and Engineering Institute Set for Saturday

A Science and Engineering Institute presented by the Arkansas School for Math, Science and the Arts will take place Saturday, Feb. 1, at the University of Arkansas STEM Center for Math and Science Education.

The institute from 8 a.m. to noon and from 1 to 5 p.m. is open to Arkansas students in the sixth through 10th grades. It is free. Online registration is required.

The STEM Center for Math and Science Education is at 346 N. West Ave. in Fayetteville.

The two concurrent sessions will be Art Through Programming, in which students will use computer science techniques to create interactive pieces of art using the easy programming language Python, and Spectre of Spectra, in which students will learn how to use a spectroscope, interpret the results, and make a portable spectroscope.

The Arkansas School for Math, Science and the Arts’ Science and Engineering Institute in Fayetteville is made possible by a generous grant from the Arkansas Community Foundation and a partnership with the UA STEM Center for Math and Science Education.
