FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – The J. William Fulbright College of Arts and Sciences will feature recitals, lectures, concerts, workshops, art exhibitions a reading and a University Theatre production in the coming week. Students, faculty, staff and guests are encouraged to attend these on-campus and off-campus events in the visual and performing arts.

Jennifer Garrison will give a voice recital at 6:30 p.m. Friday, Feb. 21, in the Fine Arts Center’s Stella Boyle Smith Concert Hall.

Also on Friday, the drama department’s production of Steven Sater and Duncan Sheik’s musical Spring Awakening will open at 8 p.m. in the University Theatre. Tickets are available in the Fine Arts Center box office and are $3 for University of Arkansas students with valid student identification, $14 for seniors and university faculty and staff, $16 for adults and $7 for children and non-UA students. Tickets may also be purchased online at http://drama.uark.edu. The show will close March 2. This production is intended for mature audiences only.

There will be an organ recital featuring Schola Cantorum at 3:30 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 23, in the Stella Boyle Smith Concert Hall.

Guest artist Maurizio Moretti will give a piano recital at 8 p.m. Monday, Feb. 24, in the Stella Boyle Smith Concert Hall.

Vamp and Tramp Booksellers will present a lecture on contemporary artists and a collection of artist books at noon Tuesday, Feb. 25, in the printmaking studio of the Fine Arts Center.

Also on Tuesday, the University of Arkansas Wind Symphony, Symphonic Band and Concert Band will perform at 6:30 p.m. at the Fayetteville High School Performing Arts Center.

At 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, members of the department of drama will hold a reading of Dream of Perfect Sleep in Kimpel Hall’s Studio 404.

Nadi Cinema will host a screening of The Open Door (Egypt 1963) at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 26, in room 104 of Mullins Library.

Also on Wednesday, guest artist Peter Kruty will give a lecture at 5:30 p.m. in the printmaking studio of the Fine Arts Center. He will also give a letterpress printing workshop the following day from 11 a.m.-1:45 p.m. in the same location.

Cynthia Nourse Thompson, associate professor of printmaking and book arts will present a lecture at 5:30 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 27, in room 213 of the Fine Arts Center.

Also on Thursday, the University of Arkansas New Music Ensemble will perform at 7:30 p.m. in the Stella Boyle Smith Concert Hall.

Brice Smith will give a flute recital at 7:30 p.m. Friday, Feb. 28, in the Stella Boyle Smith Concert Hall.

New Faculty Exhibition: Stephanie Pierce and Cynthia Nourse Thompson continues until Sunday, Feb. 23, in the Fine Arts Center Gallery. The gallery is open 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday and 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday.

Gray Zone, an exhibit by guest artist Marat Paransky, will continue until Saturday, March 1, at the Bottle Rocket Gallery in Fayetteville.

Divide Light: The Operatic Performance Costumes of Lesley Dill Exhibition continues until Sunday, April 13, in the Joy Pratt Markham Gallery at the Walton Arts Center. Gallery hours are 9 p.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Friday, noon to 4 p.m. Saturday, and one hour prior to most Walton Arts Center performances.
