University Bands Open Spring Concert Season with Three Performances at Fayetteville High School

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – The University of Arkansas Wind Symphony, Symphonic Band and Concert Band will open their spring concert season with performances at the Fayetteville High School Performing Arts Center at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 25.
The Wind Symphony will honor the sesquicentennial anniversary of Stephen Collins Foster’s passing by performing Kentucky Home by David Gillingham. Foster composed such American standards as Camptown Races, Oh, Susanna and My Old Kentucky Home.
W. Dale Warren, senior wind conductor and professor of music, conducts the Wind Symphony. Benjamin Chamberlain, associate directors of bands, conducts the Symphonic Band and Jamal Duncan, assistant director of bands, conducts the Concert Band. Selected pieces will be conducted by graduate conductors Staci Hatmaker, Case Jones and Austin Jay.
The concerts are presented by the department of music in the J. William Fulbright College of Arts and Sciences as part of the Joy Pratt Markham Series. The public is invited and admission is free.
