Three Opportunities to Meet Mcllroy Professor Lesley Dill

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – Lesley Dill, who is serving as the Mcllroy Family Visiting Professor in the Visual and Performing Arts, will give a lecture at 6 p.m. Tuesday, March 4, in the Fine Arts Center’s Stella Boyle Smith Concert Hall. She will also attend a reception immediately before the lecture in the Fine Arts Center Gallery and a second reception at 5:30 p.m. Thursday, March 6, at the Walton Arts Center.

Dill is a sculptor, photographer and performer. She uses a variety of media and techniques in her work to explore themes of language, the body and transformational experience.

Her work has been widely exhibited and collected and may be found in collections of the Albright Knox Art Gallery, Buffalo; Cleveland Museum of Art; Kemper Museum, Kansas City; Metropolitan Museum of Art; Museum of Modern Art; and Whitney Museum of American Art, among many others.

The Mcllroy Professorship was established to support the teaching and work of respected professional artists who will share their skills and knowledge with students and the community. As part of her visit, Dill will team teach a course and two of her exhibitions, Faith and the Devil and Divide Light: The Operatic Performance Costumes of Lesley Dill, will be on display for the public.

Faith and the Devil will open Monday, March 3, and continue until Friday, April 4, in the Fine Arts Center Gallery. The gallery is open 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday and 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday.

Divide Light has been on display since Thursday, Feb. 6, and will run until Sunday, April 13, in the Walton Arts Center’s Joy Pratt Markham Gallery. Gallery hours are 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Friday, noon to 4 p.m. Saturday, and one hour prior to most performances at the Walton Arts Center.
