Essence Editor-in-Chief Keynote Speaker for Diverse Perspectives Event Tonight

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – Angela Burt-Murray, editor-in-chief for Essence magazine, is the keynote speaker for the next Diverse Perspectives event:  Hail to the CEO: Negotiating Identity in the Workplace. She will discuss the current climate for women’s career advancement, and in particular, issues women of color may face in the corporate world. This Women’s History month event will take place from 5-7 p.m. Tuesday, March 11, in the Donald W. Reynolds’ center. It is free and open to the public.

The Diverse Perspectives dialogue series is planned as an ongoing effort to engage students, staff, faculty and community members in meaningful conversations about issues of diversity and inclusion. It is hosted by The Center for Multicultural and Diversity Education.

“Angela Burt-Murray has received many accolades throughout her career as a journalist and business leader, and she possesses key insights on the topics of race and gender in the workplace,” said John Jones, director for the center. “I believe that her keynote address will be inspirational and stimulate healthy dialogue regarding the issues women face in today’s workplace,”

The event is supported by the Gender Studies Program, Humanities Program, Department of Communication, Greek Life and the Sam M. Walton College of Business Office of Diversity and Inclusion.
