Enrollment Deadline Nears for Final Spring Session of Self-Paced Online Correspondence Courses

FAYETTEVILLE -- The University of Arkansas Global Campus is now accepting requests for enrollment in Self-Paced Online Correspondence courses for the final spring session, which begins Monday, April 21, and ends Friday, July 11.  The deadline to submit a request for enrollment for the spring session is Friday, April 4.

Students can go to the University of Arkansas ONLINE website for self-paced online courses, select the April 21 start date from the drop-down list, and click the link to the enrollment request form for U of A students. Colleges and schools at the University of Arkansas offer college credit through web-based correspondence courses, which range from children’s literature to macroeconomics.

Self-paced courses offer the most flexibility of any university credit course, while meeting the same academic standards as face-to-face or traditional online courses. Self-paced courses allow students to set their own learning tempos, rather than following structured learning environments led by faculty or instructors. Students are not required to be formally admitted to the university to take self-paced courses, but students should consult with an academic adviser regarding course selection to ensure courses will count toward their degree requirements.

Students should be aware that self-paced courses require a high degree of self-discipline and most require proctored or supervised exams. Enrollment sessions are approximately 12 weeks in length, and students who do not drop self-paced courses by the deadline must be assigned a final grade of A, B, C, D or F, which will appear on their U of A transcripts. Enrolling in a Self-Paced course that begins April 21 may not fulfill requirements for students who plan to graduate in May 2014.
