Walton, J.B. Hunt Launching J.B. Hunt Supply Chain University Powered by Walton

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – J.B. Hunt Transport Services Inc. and the Sam M. Walton College of Business at the University of Arkansas are once again combining their expertise in supply chain management to develop and launch the J.B. Hunt Supply Chain University.

In the summer of 2013, nearly 300 J.B. Hunt sales executives from across the United States attended the company’s supply chain forum on the University of Arkansas campus. Forum sessions were led by Walton College faculty and senior-level executives from J.B. Hunt covering topics ranging from sales to logistics outsourcing to global trends in supply chain management. The J.B. Hunt Supply Chain University will expand the forum’s scope and reach by developing an innovative learning curriculum to empower J.B. Hunt employees with current supply chain knowledge focused on helping them create additional value for their customers.

“J.B. Hunt is an exciting company with which to partner. They have a long history of listening to their customers and being innovators in the field of supply chain management,” said Eli Jones, dean of the Sam M. Walton College of Business. “In response to the rapid changes in the supply chain management industry and J.B. Hunt’s need to develop industry leading talent that can seek out and solve complex problems alongside their customers, the Walton College supply chain department is developing what we believe is a unique, educational program designed to make supply chain education accessible to all J.B. Hunt employees. Its goal is to provide education that is relevant, practical and actionable.”

The curriculum content will range from the foundational principles of supply chain management to the most advanced topics in the industry today, and the delivery methods will be as varied as the content. J.B. Hunt employees will have the opportunity to learn in online, blended and face-to-face learning environments.

“J.B. Hunt believes the Walton College’s department of supply chain management is the right partner to develop the J.B. Hunt Supply Chain University. Our company and the University of Arkansas have a long and deep connection and our collaboration continues to grow. We feel that they are at the cutting edge of supply chain management thought and they understand the needs of our business, and most importantly, the needs of our customers,” said John Roberts, J.B. Hunt president and chief executive officer. “This program is a key part of our long term strategy that will deliver the leadership, creativity and value our customers have come to expect from J.B. Hunt.”
