Global Campus Educators to Speak at State Human Resource Conference in April

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – Four Global Campus educators will present topics in their areas of expertise at the 2014 Arkansas Society for Human Resource Management Human Resource Conference and Expo April 9 through 11 in Fort Smith.

Judith Tavano, director of professional development programs at the Global Campus; Sheila Moss, president of Information Solutions Team; Cammie Scott, president of CK Harp & Associates; and Cynthia Thompson, president of The Thompson Group LLC, will present at the state human resources conference.

Tavano and Scott teach classes for the Society for Human Resource Management Learning System for Professional in Human Resources/Senior Professional in Human Resources Certification Preparation. Moss and Thompson are lecturing partners with the Global Campus.

The learning system is offered each fall and spring through the Global Campus to participants online and face to face at the Global Campus facility in Rogers, 3300 Market St.

Tavano’s presentation “What’s Behind the Curtain? Intergenerational Knowledge Capture and Transfer” will explain what employers need to do to transfer business knowledge from retiring baby boomers to those remaining in the workforce.

“According to the Pew Research Center, 10,000 baby boomers a day will turn 65 over the next 16 years,” Tavano said. “Those who are working will either be retiring or thinking of retiring. What will happen to all the knowledge they have amassed over the course of their careers?”

Moss will present a session about safe hiring programs as the key to the reduction in risk of negligent hiring claims.

Scott’s presentation will address workforce survey and forecasting, big box case studies, and the latest human resource regulations. Participants will learn how to structure their benefits plans to be in alignment with their overall organizational strategy.

Thompson will explain how compensation specialists need strategies to align compensation practices with business needs and budgets.

Tavano, Moss, Scott and Thompson are certified as senior professionals in human resources.
