Ryne Eubanks, a University of Arkansas master’s student in athletic training education, has received the Bobby Gunn Student Leadership Award from the National Athletic Trainers Association.

The award, which comes from Southwest district of the association, will allow Eubanks to attend the association’s annual clinical symposia set for June 25-28 in Indianapolis.

Eubanks, of Marion, Ark., plans to graduate in May from the master’s program. He also earned an undergraduate degree in kinesiology-exercise science from the University of Arkansas. He plans to work as a minor league athletic trainer for the Arizona Diamondbacks professional baseball organization after graduation.

The award is named for Bobby Gunn, who was the first president of the National Athletic Trainers Association and considered a pioneer of athletic training. Recipients will be recognized at the annual meeting during the Pinky Newell Scholarship and Student Leadership Breakfast.

Eubanks also recently was named this year’s outstanding athletic training education student by the College of Education and Health Professions. He narrated a new video describing the athletic training education program.
