Global Campus in Rogers Offers Workshops for Business and Human Resource Professionals in May

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – Online registration is open for four professional development workshops for business and human resource professionals in May at the University of Arkansas Global Campus facility in Rogers. Workshops can be accessed simultaneously online via Blackboard Collaborate.

The professional development network is part of the Global Campus facility in Rogers, which provides educational offerings and meeting space. The May workshops will focus on helping human resource professionals become strategic business partners, examining the recruitment and retention benefits of linking social responsibility with business goals, and developing skills to sort and dispose of business records properly, based on guidelines.

Participants can register online. Each workshop is $49, but University of Arkansas alumni receive a 10 percent discount. Contact Judith Tavano, director of professional development programs, at jtavano@uark.edu for information.

Below are the workshops, times, dates and descriptions.

  •    “Social Responsibility @Work – Good Cause/Good Business. Part 1: Why Social Responsibility @Work/Why Now?” 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, May 13. Business leaders can discover ways to link social responsibility with strategic business intent. The session will focus on defining social responsibility, calculating the strategic value of a social responsibility plan, and understanding why this is important to recruitment and retention efforts.

    This session has been approved for two business recertification hours for professional in human resources, senior professional in human resources, and global professional in human resources certification from the Human Resource Certification Institute.

  • “How to Be a Human Resource Strategic Business Partner,” 4:30 to 6 p.m. Thursday, May 15. Human resource professionals will learn how to position themselves as strategic business partners in their organizations by enhancing their business acumen.

     This session has been approved for 1.5 business recertification hours for professional in human resources, senior professional in human resources, and global professional in human resources certification from the Human Resource Certification Institute.

  • “Social Responsibility @Work – Good Cause/Good Business. Part 2: Getting Started with a Social Responsibility Plan @Work,” 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, May 20. An employer’s commitment to socially responsible causes can enhance recruitment and retention efforts. This session will help business leaders link social responsibility to their organizations’ missions, visions and values.

    This session has been approved for two general recertification hours toward professional in human resources, senior professional in human resources, and global professional in human resources certification from the Human Resource Certification Institute.

  •  “Record Retention: To Keep or Not to Keep – That is the (Strategic) Question,” 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. Thursday, May 29. Effective records management can provide a level of protection for business leaders, human resource professionals and shareholders. This session will provide professional, state and national guidelines for document destruction and best practices for deciding which documents should be saved or destroyed.

    This session has been approved for two business recertification hours for professional in human resources, senior professional in human resources, and global professional in human resources certification from the Human Resource Certification Institute.

The Global Campus, with offices in Rogers and Fayetteville, collaborates with academic colleges and schools, businesses and organizations to provide development classes for business professionals. The Global Campus also supports the design and development of online academic credit courses and degree programs provided by the university’s colleges and schools.
