Marco De Prosperis has been appointed director for administrative services of the University Libraries following a national search.

“I’m thrilled to welcome Marco to the Libraries,” said Dean of Libraries Carolyn Henderson Allen. “His expertise and leadership will be critical to our continued growth and pursuit of recognition as one of the nation’s top 50 public research universities.”

De Prosperis brings more than 20 years of management experience in diverse sectors to the position. De Prosperis served as a laboratory administrator and facilities manager for the Materials and Electrical Components laboratory at the European Space Agency in Noordwijk, the Netherlands.  He directed operations for a highly successful company that created components installed on the International Space Station in 2008. He also served as a plant manager for a metal structures manufacturing plant in Rome, Italy, where he provided direct oversight for the operations management team, including production, engineering, maintenance, procurement, quality, and logistics, and authored successful proposals for grants from the European Union.

As the director for administrative services, De Prosperis supervises budgeting, accounting, procurement, space planning, and facilities maintenance for Mullins Library, the Fine Arts Library, the Chemistry and Biochemistry Library, the Physics Library, and the remote storage library facility. Additionally, De Prosperis plays a leadership role in the formulation and assessment of Libraries-wide services, policies, and diversity initiatives.

“I am very happy to serve the Libraries in my new role,” said De Prosperis. “I look forward to working with my colleagues to continue to provide quality library services to the campus community.”

De Prosperis holds a bachelor of arts in management and a master of business administration from Webster University in St. Louis, Missouri. He has also studied at the University of Rome Tor Vergata in Italy.
