Registration Open for Professional Development Workshops at the Global Campus this Summer

ROGERS, Ark. – Online registration is open for three professional development and business technology workshops this summer at the University of Arkansas Global Campus facility in Rogers.

Participants can register online for workshops about negotiating salaries, transitioning to new software, and wage and hour trends.

Below are the workshops, times, dates and descriptions.

  • Negotiating Salaries: Due Diligence Rules of Engagement for Stakeholders, 5:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Thursday, July 10, $59, Room 239 in the Business Building at the Sam M. Walton College of Business. Explore the salary expectations of employees and prospective employees, and learn the skills human resource professionals use to negotiate salaries. The class will be taught by Arthur T. Matthews, a visiting professor at Walton College.
  • Transitioning to Agile & Scrum, 4:30 to 7:30 p.m. on four Thursdays, July 17, 24 and 31 and Aug. 7 and 14, $490, Global Campus facility in Rogers, 3300 Market St., in the World Trade Center Building. A certified instructor will teach modules that offer an easy-to-understand explanation of Agile, a philosophy of software development that introduces the cadence of incremental, iteractive slices of time for projects. Scrum, one of several Agile approaches, will be covered in detail.
  • Wage and Hour Trends: What You Need to Know, 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. Monday, Sept. 15,  $49, available in person at the Global Campus facility in Rogers, 3300 Market St., in the World Trade Center Building and online via Blackboard Collaborate. The workshop will spotlight the most prevalent wage-and-hour issues, including the misclassification of employees, calculating overtime, exempt status and bonuses.

The Global Campus professional development network offers a variety of noncredit workshops and seminars, short-term certificate programs, certification preparation courses, conferences and institutes designed for working adults who want to develop new professional skills or enhance their current skills and credentials.

The Global Campus, with offices in Rogers and Fayetteville, collaborates with academic colleges and schools, businesses and organizations to provide development and computer training classes for business professionals. The Global Campus also supports the design and development of online academic credit courses and degree programs provided by the university’s colleges and schools.
