Center for Educational Access to Hold Open House Thursday in Its New Location

The Center for Educational Access recently moved to the second floor of the Arkansas Union, Room 209. The department was previously located on the first floor of the Union in room 104. The department staff invites the campus community to an open house from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Thursday, July 10.

The center is the primary campus resource for students who have disabilities that require reasonable accommodations in order to access programs, services and activities offered by the university. Staff members of the center work with students and faculty to facilitate their accommodation needs.

The move unites both the central office staff and the alternative format conversion lab staff into one space. This move to the second floor also aligns the office with the CEA testing center located in the Stadium Parking Garage.

“Now that all areas of the CEA are close and accessible, students essentially have a one-stop shop to acquire multiple services,” said Laura James, interim director of Center for Educational Access. “Students can easily access the CEA from each building entrance, without the needing to transfer elevators.”

“The new space is also in a more prominent and visible location, which will increase awareness of the department and the services we offer,” James said. “As a staff, we are thrilled to have a centralized location, which ultimately increases efficiency in our day to day operations by facilitating communication and promoting teamwork in all areas of the CEA.”

Please join staff members of the center for an open house on Thursday, July 10, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Refreshments will be served. For more information call 575-3104 or email ada@uark.edu.
