FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. — Jeff Amerine, director of Technology Ventures, the University of Arkansas’ technology transfer office, will begin hosting a new segment on Saturday Morning Meeting with 8th and Walton, beginning this week.

8th & Walton, a Bentonville firm that teaches Walmart Stores Inc. suppliers the nuances of doing business with the world’s largest retailer, produces the weekly talk show. It is broadcast at 6:30 p.m. on Saturdays on Northwest Arkansas’ NBC affiliate, KNWA, and appears on the 8th & Walton channel on YouTube the following Monday.

Amerine will be host a five-minute segment titled, “Swimming in Sea of Data,” in which he will have guests from the University of Arkansas, major corporations and innovative startup companies that can shed light on the strategies, tactics and technologies that can support better retail and/or consumer-packaged-goods decision-making in an increasingly complex world that is inundated by data.

“We’ll talk about the macro drivers of supply and demand along with tactics and technologies that can help make sense of it all,” Amerine said.

The segment's guest on July 19 will be Kathy Deck, director of the Center for Business and Economic Research at the U of A. The July 26 segment will feature Clint Lazenby, an equity investor in OnShelf. On August 3, John James, chief executive officer of Arkansas-based Acumen Brands, will be the guest.

Amerine joined the university as a technology licensing officer in 2008 after a successful 18-year career as an executive and builder of technology businesses. He held senior leadership positions in seven startup ventures and three Fortune 500 companies and teaches entrepreneurship in the university’s Sam M. Walton College of Business.

Amerine is also an adviser to Innovate Arkansas, an initiative operated by Winrock International for the Arkansas Economic Development Commission that grows and sustains knowledge-based companies in Arkansas.
