Boston Mountain Biotech Offering Contract Research Services
FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. — Boston Mountain Biotech, located in the Genesis Technology Incubator at the Arkansas Research and Technology Park, is offering contract research services with special pricing for researchers within the University of Arkansas System.
The company, founded by University of Arkansas graduate Ellen Brune, uses advanced techniques for recombinant protein expression and purification that provides increased culture productivity and an overall reduction in host cell protein as the recombinant is purified.
Boston Mountain Biotech’s fermentation and protein isolation suite is capable of high cell density fermentation and chromatographic separation, respectively, focusing on bacterial and yeast at this time. It also offers various molecular biology services including genomic modification, cloning and growth medium formulation and optimization.
Brune, who earned a doctorate in chemical engineering with a focus in bioprocessing in May 2013, started Boston Mountain Biotech after developing a patent-pending method to simplify the pharmaceutical production of proteins used in drugs that treat a variety of diseases and health conditions.
Brune was among an interdisciplinary group of researchers who filed an intellectual property disclosure form in early 2012. The University of Arkansas filed a provisional patent application and issued a license to commercialize the technology to Boston Mountain Biotech.
