FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – For the third-straight year, the University of Arkansas has finished in the Collegiate Licensing Company’s top-15 selling institutions based on royalties generated from officially licensed products. The Razorbacks ranked 14th among more than 160 CLC colleges and universities.

From July 1, 2013, through June 30, 2014, the University of Arkansas licensing program generated $3,514,088 in gross royalties from licensed merchandise. Revenues generated from the institution’s licensing program provide support for the University of Arkansas’ women’s sport programs. Since Arkansas partnered with CLC 26 years ago, more than $37.8 million has been generated to directly support Razorback student-athletes.

“The loyalty of Razorback fans combined with the success of our licensing program generated more than $3.5 million in the past year to invest in the continued development of more than 460 Razorback student-athletes,” said Jeff Long, vice chancellor and director of athletics. “Thanks to the efforts of our licensing team, our CLC partners and hundreds of licensees and vendors, fans were able to purchase a wide variety of officially licensed products to cheer on the Razorbacks while directly supporting the University of Arkansas and student-athletes in all 19 sport programs. Our top 15 finish is a credit to all those who have participated in or supported our licensing program and is further evidence of the tremendous passion of Razorback fans.”

The retail marketplace for college licensed merchandise in 2013 was estimated at $4.59 billion. Royalties generated from the sale of officially licensed collegiate products go back to the institutions to support student scholarships and enhance various initiatives on campus and in the community.

Top apparel categories for 2013-14 included performance apparel and clothing accessories. Top non-apparel categories included games, health/beauty, paper products and school supplies.

In addition, the University of Arkansas’ official apparel partner, NIKE, topped the CLC list for apparel licensees. NIKE USA Inc. has been the No. 1 collegiate apparel licensee for the second consecutive year. Excluding the 2009-10 and 2010-11 fiscal years, NIKE USA Inc. has held the position of top apparel licensee since 1999.
