Gallini Named to Leadership Team of Arkansas Law Dean

Dean Stacy L. Leeds of the University of Arkansas School of Law has appointed Professor Brian Gallini to serve on her administrative leadership team. Gallini will serve as associate dean for faculty research and development.

“Brian will bring considerable energy and a strong scholarly record to this role,” said Leeds. “He will be an ideal mentor to our junior faculty colleagues and provide support for intellectual growth across our ranks.”

Gallini joins the senior administrative leadership team, where he will work with Carl Circo, senior associate dean; Donald Judges, associate dean for graduate programs and experiential learning; and Jim Miller, associate dean for students.

Gallini joined the School of Law in 2008. He received his juris doctor from the University of Michigan Law School in 2002. While at Michigan, he served as the articles editor on the Michigan Journal of International Law. After his graduation from law school, he served as a judicial clerk to the Honorable Robert W. Clifford on the Maine Supreme Judicial Court and practiced white-collar criminal defense at the Washington, D.C., office of Duane Morris LLP.

He later left practice to clerk for the Honorable Richard Allen Griffin on the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Sixth Circuit Court. Before joining the University of Arkansas, Gallini taught for two years at the Temple University Beasley School of Law in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.

Gallini’s scholarship focuses on law enforcement discretion issues in the context of interrogation methods, consent searches and profiling. His piece, Schneckloth v. Bustamonte: History's Unspoken Fourth Amendment Anomaly, won the Southeastern Association of American Law Schools Call for Papers competition, and his work has been published in the Hastings Law Journal, George Mason Law Review, and Tennessee Law Review among others. His expert commentary has also been featured in global media outlets including The Wall Street Journal, Chicago Tribune and Los Angeles Times.

Outside academia, Gallini serves as the head coach of the University of Arkansas men’s hockey club team and was named the 2013-14 Southeastern Collegiate Hockey Conference coach of the year.
