Management Department Ranked High in Research Productivity

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – The Department of Management in the Sam M. Walton College of Business at the University of Arkansas was ranked 31st overall in research productivity in a study of U.S. and Canadian universities.

Alan Ellstrand, department chair and Charles C. Fichtner Chair of Management, said that the recognition came about through the efforts of the entire faculty of the management department. “Our researchers are among the best and most productive in the nation,” Ellstrand said. “Congratulations to everyone who contributed to this great accomplishment.”

The joint study by Texas A&M University and the University of Florida analyzed and ranked research productivity in the top management journals. The study counted all management departments and universities that published in the eight top management journals: Academy of Management Journal, Academy of Management Review, Administrative Science Quarterly, Journal of Applied Psychology, Organization Science, Organizational Behavior and Human Decision Processes, Personnel Psychology and Strategic Management Journal.

Walton’s management department was tied in the study with the departments at Boston University, Cornell University, Notre Dame, Rutgers, Western Ontario and Wisconsin.
