Free Counseling Program and Group Helps Students Living on Campus

University Housing, in collaboration with the university's Counseling and Psychological Services program, is offering a program which provides free counseling services to students who live on campus. The Counselor-in-Residence/Counseling Intern program is composed of two doctoral students in Counselor Education (CIRs), as well as five master’s students who are in the internship phase of their Clinical Mental Health Counseling program (CIs).

The CIRs are experienced clinicians who help supervise the interns, all of whom have a private office on campus to use for counseling sessions. There is no cost to receive these counseling services, though students must live on campus to participate. Dedicated CI offices are located in Yocum, Gladson-Ripley, Northwest Quad, Futrall, and Reid halls. In order to schedule an appointment, you may call Counseling and Psychological Services at 479-575-5276 or email the CIRs and CIs directly. If you are experiencing a mental health emergency, please call Counseling and Psychological Services, which responds to calls at all times. CIR/CI contact information is below:

In addition, the CIs are offering a free Connections Group on both Mondays and Tuesdays from 3:30-4:30 p.m. in the Pat Walker Health Center CAPS meeting room. This group is open to all students and helps those who are struggling to make friends, feel connected to the campus community, homesickness, academic concerns, relationship issues, and adjustment to college life, among other topics. You do not need to be seen by a CAPS clinician or CIR/CI in order to join this group and it is also free.
