Informational Session Planned Today for Students Interested in Ireland Trip
The College of Education and Health Professions will hold an informational session Oct. 9 for education majors interested in a study abroad trip to Ireland in the summer of 2015.
The session conducted by Paul Calleja, clinical associate professor of kinesiology, Jack Kern, clinical professor of kinesiology, and Leah Chamberlain, director of field placement and licensure, will take place at 4 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 9 in Room 343 of the Graduate Education Building. More information about the trip is available on the Study Abroad website.
The trip will highlight similarities and differences between the Irish and American education systems, while evaluating the impact of culture and history on education. Students will be immersed in the Irish education system through interactive visits to primary and secondary schools in Limerick. They will live on the University of Limerick campus during the two-week faculty-led study abroad experience.
Calleja and Kern will lead the trip. They both teach in the kinesiology pedagogy program for physical education majors.
The program has two application deadlines, a Nov. 1 priority deadline and a Feb. 1 deadline.
