Flu Vaccine Walk-in Clinics Offered at Pat Walker Health Center

Flu vaccines are now available in the Allergy, Travel and Immunization Clinic at the Pat Walker Health Center. Individuals can receive their vaccine Monday-Friday from 3-5 p.m. with no appointment necessary.

Students, faculty and staff can also schedule their flu shot through the immunization clinic if they cannot make it to the walk-in clinic.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention recommend that all persons aged 6 months and older receive an annual influenza vaccination. Additionally, it is best to obtain vaccination earlier in the fall to be protected throughout the entire flu season.

“Don't let the flu interfere with classes, final exams or your winter breakGetting a flu shot is the single best way to protect yourself, your family and friends from the flu,” said Lyn Edington, director of nursing at the Pat Walker Health Center.

The health center is providing the quadrivalent vaccine – protecting you against four strains of influenza including the H1N1 (swine) flu. The vaccine is offered in two forms, a flu shot and a nasal spray. The flu shot will be available at the cost of $20 for students or $40 for faculty and staff. The nasal spray will be available at the cost of $30 for students or $50 for faculty and staff.

Individuals who would like to bill their insurance should bring their member ID card with them to the health center. For more information or to schedule an appointment, call 479-575-7723.
