Foley Honored, Three U of A Documentary Films Showcased at Local Offshoot Film Festival

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – The Seedling Film Association will honor professor Larry Foley, chair of the Walter J. Lemke Department of Journalism Thursday evening at the 2014 Offshoot Film Festival. Three films with ties to the master of arts program in journalism will also be showcased at the festival.

Foley is a veteran journalist and documentary filmmaker. His productions have earned five Emmy Awards and 14 nominations. His students have been awarded an additional six Emmys for films produced under his direction. Foley contributes to Arkansas’ growing film industry through his own filmmaking as well as through the many students he has taught in Documentary Film classes in the master of arts program.

Three films with ties to the program, Oak Cemetery: A Forgotten Place, Buried Treasures, the Art of Robert Ross, and After the Tsunami, will be shown at 2 p.m. Saturday  in the Arkansas Connection Short Documentary block. The event will be held at the University of Arkansas’ Global Campus, 2 East Center Street in Fayetteville.
