The Office for Sustainability, Outdoor Connection Center, and Associated Student Government are excited to co-host the first annual Bike Fest at the University of Arkansas from 1-3 p.m. Friday, Oct. 10. The event will take place on McIlroy Avenue between the Business Building and Humphreys Residency Hall.

The Bike Fest is an opportunity to learn about cycling on and around the University of Arkansas campus and to register your bicycle with the university. The Bike Fest includes a "slow bike race," where riders go as slow as possible without touching the ground and the last person to cross the finish line wins! Other activities include an introduction to bike commuting workshop, an introduction to mountain biking workshop, games, informational booths, games, and a chance to win a free bike! Associated Student Government will provide hotdogs while supplies last.

Come get your bike registered, get free food, learn more about biking, and try the slow bike race! The entire campus community is invited. If you cannot attend the festivities but would like to register your bicycle, please visit parking.uark.edu/531.php.

The Office for Sustainability recently launched a new online Guide to Biking on Campus. The goal is to provide information on bike safety, access, maintenance, policies, trails, campus walk-only zones, and more.

Sponsors include Highroller Cyclery, Phat Tire Bike Shop and Good Bikes.
