Five University of Arkansas women have been selected as the 2014 Homecoming Court by the campuswide Homecoming Court Selection Committee. Homecoming Court represents school spirit and pride for the University of Arkansas and is one of the oldest and most storied traditions. The five Homecoming Court members will vie for the title of Homecoming Queen. Elections for Homecoming Queen will be conducted from 9 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 15, through 4 p.m. Friday, Oct. 17, on vote.uark.edu. The queen will be announced at the Homecoming Pep Rally on Oct. 24.

The 2014 Homecoming Court, along with their class years, major, and nominating organizations, are:

  • Amy May West, senior, agricultural business (economics), Associated Student Government
  • Amy Moorehead, senior, hospitality restaurant management and Spanish, Student Alumni Board
  • Cicely Shannon, senior, international economics and business, Alpha Lambda Delta Honor Society
  • Kali Lantefield, senior, marketing and economics/minor in international business, Pi Beta Phi
  • Margaret Watermann, senior, honors history, political science and French, Alpha Delta Pi

Student leaders from Associated Student Government and Student Alumni Board, as well as staff from across the Division of Student Affairs, selected the Homecoming Court from 20 nominees by a dual-round interview process. The committee reviewed applications along with resumes and responses to essay questions, narrowing the list to 20 women. The top 20 women interviewed with the committee, who then selected 10 finalists. These women then completed a longer, more comprehensive interview with the committee, who voted on the top five to submit to the student body as the 2013 Homecoming Court.

The campus wide Homecoming Court Selection Committee announced the 2014 Homecoming Court Friday, Oct. 10, at the Chancellor’s Ball. Homecoming Court members represent both school spirit and pride for the University of Arkansas and Homecoming is one of the oldest and most storied traditions. All University of Arkansas women nominated by a registered student organization were eligible for Homecoming Court.

Homecoming Court members will participate in the Homecoming parade, Homecoming pre-game and the full court will be presented during the Arkansas vs. University of Alabama at Birmingham football game halftime show on Saturday, Oct. 25.
