Applications are now available for University Programs president and vice president positions for spring 2015. Applications are due by 5 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 29, to the Office of Student Activities, ARKU A665 (above the computer lab in the Arkansas Union).

University Programs is a volunteer student organization responsible for coordinating and planning over 100 events annually for the campus community. University Programs provides U of A students with cultural, educational, recreational, and entertainment experiences. Eight committees along with committee chairs and their executive officers select, schedule, and produce events such as concerts, movies, lectures, fine arts performances, and gallery exhibits. University Programs provides excellent opportunities to develop leadership skills and to gain practical experience in a variety of areas. Supported by an activity fee instituted in 1988, events are free to the student body.

The University Programs president is responsible for preparing agendas and leading University Program Council meetings; assist with leadership development, recognition, and training workshops for UP Council members; chair the selection committee for UP Council members; represent University Programs on committees; and oversee UP’s programming efforts. The president serves 15 hours a week and receives $1500 for the semester. Students interested in running for the president position must have been previously involved in University Programs. 

The University Programs vice president promotes all events from each of UP’s eight student-run committees. The UP vice president is responsible for marketing University Programs and helping chairs advertise their events. The vice president chairs the Public Relations Committee and works with our webmaster to ensure the quality of the UP Facebook, Twitter, website, and other online outlets.The vice president serves 12 hours a week and receives $1,200 for the semester.
