This Week in the Visual and Performing Arts: Oct. 17-24
FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – The J. William Fulbright College of Arts and Sciences will host many events this week, including multiple art exhibitions, recitals and a guest lecture. Students, faculty, staff and guests are encouraged to attend these performances in the visual and performing arts.
A display of student work from assistant professor of art Sean Morrissey’s printmaking class will close Friday, Oct. 17. The pieces have been on exhibit in the Fine Arts Center Gallery exhibition cases.
The Department of Art will host a lecture by guest artist Kristen L. Morgin as part of its Visiting Artist Lecture Series at 5:30 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 23, in Kimpel Hall room 102.
Also on Thursday, opera students from assistant professor of music David Malis’ class will give a concert at 7 p.m. in the Fine Arts Center’s Stella Boyle Smith Concert Hall.
Stationary Realms, an exhibit by multiple artists, will continue until 5 p.m. Friday, Oct. 24, in the Fine Arts Center Gallery. Gallery hours are 9 a.m.-5 p.m. Monday through Friday and 2-5 p.m. Sunday.
Also on Friday, 12 students’ sculpture work will be on display at the Levi Storage Center located at 1800 Stirman Ave. in Fayetteville. A closing reception will take place from 5-8 p.m. at the center.
Later that evening, voice students from assistant professor of music Moon-Sook Park’s class will perform at 7:30 p.m. in the Stella Boyle Smith Concert Hall.
Temporary Indefinite, an art exhibition by multiple artists, continues at the sUgAR Gallery, 1 E. Center St. on the Fayettevill Square until Wednesday, Oct. 29. Gallery hours are 3:30-6:30 p.m. Mondays and Wednesdays and 9 a.m.-1 p.m. Saturdays.
Artwork from printmaking and ceramics classes remain on display in the hallway cases of the Fine Arts Center throughout October.
The Arkansas Experience in the First World War, an exhibition of artifacts including uniforms, helmets, weapons and photos, remains on display through December in the Bogle Exhibit Hall on the 5th floor of Old Main.
