FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – The Everyday Heroes Live United campaign at the University of Arkansas is at 61 percent of its $150,000 goal, with 10 days left until the Oct. 31 deadline. So far about 20 percent of U of A faculty and staff members have turned in their individual Hero Cards, indicating their donation or that they contribute in other ways.

“The Hero Cards have made a huge difference in this year’s campaign,” said Kathy Deck, campaign co-chair. “We are ahead in our donations compared to last year, and significantly ahead in participation. The Hero Cards are really the way we measure participation and the fact is that people participating inspire their colleagues to participate as well.”

Faculty and staff members can turn their individual Hero Cards in to the campaign coordinator in their college or division. A full list of the campaign coordinators is here.

Of course another reason to turn in the Hero Cards is to be eligible for a drawing to a $100 gift card. Nine gift cards have been given away already, and another 11 winners will be chosen in the next two drawings.

As of Friday, Oct. 17, the staff members at Facilities Management were leading the campus in both the number of participants and in total of donations. Student Affairs, the College of Education and Health Professions and the Experiment Station have the next highest number of participants. The Sam M. Walton College of Business, the Experiment Station, the J. William Fulbright College of Arts and Sciences and the Division of Academic Affairs are next highest in total donations. Honors College has the highest percentage of participation.

“The number of people who have made donations with their Hero Card is impressive,” said Marty Matlock, campaign co-chair. “Whether by arranging a payroll deduction or even putting cash or a check in the card and sealing it – every donation, no matter the size – each one helps, each one matters. And we know that many people are making their donations online – but we really appreciate them taking the time to turn in their Hero Card so their participation can be counted.”
