Come join Muslimas of UARK for Eid Al-Adha!

Muslimas of UARK will sponsor an exciting, fun-filled celebration of the Islamic holiday to take place in Giffels Auditorium beginning at 5:30 p.m. Friday, Nov. 7. The event is free to all U of A students. Please register online to attend.

Eid al-Adha, meaning Feast of the Sacrifice, is the second of two religious holidays celebrated by Muslims worldwide each year. This festival commemorates Ibrahim’s (Abraham) willingness to sacrifice his son to God. This festival also marks the end of the Hajj, the pilgrimage to Mecca in Saudi Arabia, which Muslims are required to make at least once in their lives.

Saudi Arabian, Indonesian and Pakistani students from the Saudi Students Club, the Muslim Students Association and the Indonesian student group Permias will offer a brief presentation discussing the undertaking of Hajj and different traditions of celebrating the holiday that follows, as well as cultural performances by several international student groups, followed by a reception catered by Aroma Café.

Students interested in gaining insight on the teachings of Islam, international culture, or Middle Eastern studies are encouraged to attend.  Tickets may be picked up on Monday, Nov. 3, and Tuesday, Nov. 4, in the Arkansas Union Food Court.

The event is free to current University of Arkansas, Fayetteville, students as supported by the Associated Student Government through the Office of Student Activities and funded by the Student Activities Fee. For questions, please contact the Associated Student Government at 575-5255. For special accommodations due to disability, please contact the Office of Student Activities at 479-575-5255.
