Getting Candid about Candidacy Exams: Tips for Exam Prep

In this event, students will learn about creating reading lists for written candidacy exams, and about other tips and tricks for getting ready for the exams. Professors Stephens, Slattery, and Sparks will discuss candidacy exams from a professor's perspective, and they will provide sample candidacy exam questions. Additionally, students from the department will discuss their study strategies and their own exam experiences. Food and beverages will be provided; come hungry for a late lunch or early dinner.

The event will be from 3-5 p.m. Friday, Nov. 14, in the Reynolds Center, Executive Board Room (building between Willard Walker Hall and Sam Walton College of Business).

This event has been designed with English doctoral students in mind, but graduate students at any point in the program are welcome to attend, especially to get an idea of the University of Arkansas' candidacy exam process. Or, of course, anyone can come for food.

This event/program is free to current University of Arkansas, Fayetteville, students as supported by the Associated Student Government through the Office of Student Activities and funded by the Student Activities Fee. For questions, please contact Megan Vallowe, GSE Secretary Treasurer at mvallowe@email.uark.edu.
