Graduate Education Week Kicks Off on Monday
FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – The University of Arkansas will celebrate the contributions of graduate students next week, as Monday serves as the first day of the campus’ Graduate Education Week.
“Graduate students are a critical resource for our campus,” said Kim LaScola Needy, dean of the Graduate School and International Education. “Graduate students teach our courses, mentor our undergraduate students, assist our faculty and conduct outstanding research. I am truly excited to have this opportunity to acknowledge how much we appreciate and value them.”
A variety of events are planned throughout the week, including seminars for graduate students, information sessions for undergraduate students and a research poster competition. The week will officially kick off with a resource fair for graduate students, which will be held from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the Union’s International Connections Lounge. The Graduate School will celebrate its one-year anniversary in Ozark Hall with an Open House from 1 to 3 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 12, in the Graduate Student Lounge.
The week will culminate on Friday, Nov. 14, with “From Abstract to Contract,” a graduate student research poster competition. Nearly 140 graduate students are slated to participate in the contest, which will take place from 1 to 3 p.m. in Mullins Library.
