Pete Holmes Comes to the U of A Nov. 21

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. — University Programs will host Chris Thayer and Pete Holmes at 8 p.m. Friday, November 21, 2014 in the Verizon Ballroom at the University of Arkansas Union.

This event is sponsored by University Programs through the Office of Student Activities and is supported by the Student Activities fee, and students must show university ID for entrance. Admission for general public is free and contingent upon availability. The University Programs Comedy Committee will bring writer and comedian Pete Holmes to the Verizon Ballroom stage on Nov. 21. Produced by Conan O’Brien, Pete Holmes hosted The Pete Holmes Show on TBS. He has interviewed people such as Zach Galifianakis, Aziz Ansari, Bo Burnham, and many more. Holmes has recorded two hour long stand-up specials including “Nice Try, The Devil” in 2013 and “Impregnated with Wonder” in 2011.

He has performed on numerous talk shows including Conan and Late Night with Jimmy Fallon. Holmes has also hosted his own podcast through the Nerdist Network known as You Made It Weird with Pete Holmes. He is also known for voicing the eTrade baby, spoofing Batman in College Humor’s “Badman,” and drawing cartoons for The New Yorker.

Opening for Holmes is stand-up comic, Chris Thayer. He started his career as a regular member of The Business SF in San Francisco. The group was named the “Best Cheap Night of Comedy” in 2012. He also performed frequently at Hemlock’s Tavern’s “Club Chuckles”, created and hosted “NERVES” and “Warm Regards” stand-up series, co-created the comedy variety show “Funny Party”, and co-founded The Business LA. Take a breath. He has appeared in SF Sketchfest, Riot LA, Bridgetown Comedy Festival, High Plains and many more. Cue the start of a beautiful friendship. Thayer served as a Digital Writer and feature comedian on The Pete Holmes Show, wrote the pilot for The Midnight Show with Pete Holmes, and has guest starred in Holmes’ podcast “You Made it Weird with Pete Holmes.” He also holds titles as “30 Under 30: Comedians to Watch,” “The Funniest Dudes You Should Be Following in 2013” and “The 100 Funniest Tweets of 2012.” Don’t miss the hilarious duo as Chris Thayer opens the show for the one and only, Pete Holmes.
