The Normal Heart to be Shown to Commemorate World AIDS Day

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – To commemorate World AIDS day, the University of Arkansas Center for Multicultural and Diversity Education, the Department of World Languages, Literatures and Cultures and the Gender Studies Program have collaborated to bring the recent HBO  drama, The Normal Heart, to campus for a free public screening at 6 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 2 in Kimpel Hall Room 102.

This critically acclaimed film is set in New York City during the early 1980s, at the beginning of the HIV/AIDS epidemic in the United States.

The film follows the struggle of one gay activist who is willing to put everything on the line for answers. 

The film stars Mark Ruffalo, Julia Roberts and Jonathan Groff, and was directed by Ryan Murphy.

Ryan Calabretta-Sajder, assistant professor of Italian will introduce the film. A question and answer session will follow the screening.
