FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. -- Student Organization Outreach and Involvement Experience (SOOIE) is proud to announce the November Registered Student Organization Advisor, Member, and Event of the Month. The winners are as follows: 

The Event of the Month is “Taste of Africa” which was hosted by African Student Organization. This event took place on November 15, in the UARK Bowl. There were over 350 students in attendance at the annual event which showcased African cuisine and drinks to the University of Arkansas community. Mahawa Diakite stated that event, “brought more diversity to our beautiful campus by showing the beauty of our beloved continent.”

The Advisor of the Month is DeDe Long of the Fulbright Scholars at the University of Arkansas RSO. Long is currently the director of the the Office of Study Abroad and International Exchange. She oversees various opportunities to harness global views and personal growth through international immersions by studying and experiencing life outside of the United States. Sittie Aisha Macabago said, “DeDe has always shown grace and precision. Her personal and professional etiquette has always been pleasing and inspiring.” Macabago also said, “Every student organization would be honored to have her as their core guide and support.”

The Member of the Month is Sean Bryant of the Arnold Air Society. Bryant is a senior who has been with the organization for three and a half years. He serves as the Area IX Commander, responsible for 14 Arnold Air Society units in Arkansas, Louisiana, Texas, and Oklahoma. Under Sean’s leadership, Region IX has had the most community service hours, with over 10,000 hours, in the Arnold Air Society nation. He is also playing a vital role in re-activating the Silver Wings RSO this semester. Buster McCall said, “Sean is detail oriented, high-energy, and focused. His selfless leadership sets the example others in Arnold Air Society and Silver Wings gladly follow.”
