FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – More than 1,000 University of Arkansas students are registered to graduate during the fall commencement ceremony at 9 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 20, in Barnhill Arena. The parents, friends and family members are expected to fill the building, and if there is an overflow, guests will be able to watch the ceremony on streaming video and enjoy refreshments in the nearby Health, Physical Education and Recreation Building.

“The doors to Barnhill will open at 7:30 a.m. and we recommend that guests arrive early,” said Dave Dawson, university registrar. “No tickets are required for this event, but we have asked our students not to invite more than five guests to the ceremony. Everyone should be seated by 8:45 a.m. We will accommodate everyone who wants to see commencement, either in Barnhill or in the overflow area.”

Live online streaming will also be available for anyone who is unable to attend the ceremony.

Free parking is available in several lots near Barnhill Arena, including Lot 44, north of Razorback Stadium, Lots 72, 73, and 74 on the west side of Razorback Road and the Stadium Drive Parking Garage, off Stadium Drive. A map of these locations is available online.

Guests can also park in any unrestricted parking lot on campus. An online campus map is also available: click on “P” on the map’s menu to find parking lots.

Guests can enter Barnhill Arena from the north, south, and east sides. People with disabilities can be dropped off the southwest entrance to the arena, with disabled parking available in lot 59 only. A limited number of seats will be available for people with disabilities on the floor area of Barnhill. No more than two additional guests may accompany a person with disabilities in this seating area.

Normal security procedures will be in place for the ceremony. All bags will be checked for security purposes, so it is recommended that guests plan to arrive early to avoid a delay in reaching their seats. No wrapped packages or strollers, backpacks, signs or noisemakers are allowed in Barnhill. Compact umbrellas are permitted.
