Changes in Network Engineering Team to Shift Focus Toward Reliable Data Center, Wireless Networks

The IT Services network engineering team recently promoted two of its members as part of a restructuring effort to improve the reliability and flexibility of the data center and wireless networks. The new positions make it possible to solve network infrastructure problems more quickly while providing new features for a growing student population relying on ubiquitous Wi-Fi access.

Devyn Moore was named Wireless Network Engineer and is responsible for the design of wireless network upgrades, as well as the long-term strategy for maintaining the wireless network. Moore is also responsible for the oversight and troubleshooting of wireless performance issues.

Moore has designed wireless networks for several campus buildings during his three years of experience working on the University of Arkansas network. Moore also completed two courses: Implementing Unified Wireless Networking Essentials v2.0 and Managing Unified Access Networks with Cisco Prime Infrastructure.

Jon Kelley was named Data Center Network Engineer and is responsible for the oversight of logistics and design for the Data Center network. Kelley also acts as a liaison between IT Services and tech partner staff to plan the deployment and maintenance of network infrastructure, including new servers and virtual server environments across campus.

Kelley has over 10 years of experience working in customer-focused information technology roles, including project management, using standard ITIL practices for optimizing information technology services within an organization.

Moore and Kelley report to Elon Turner, director of network operations for IT Services.
