University of Arkansas Mourns Passing of Ray Trammell
Ray Trammell, who served as a professor at the School of Law and as general counsel of the University of Arkansas System, passed away at age 94 on Friday, Jan. 9, 2015.
He was part of the University of Arkansas family for more than 45 years, first as an undergraduate, then as a law student and later as a faculty member and administrator. He joined the School of Law faculty in 1944 and achieved the rank of full professor in 1955. Among his many accomplishments at the law school, he incorporated and served on the board of directors of the Arkansas Law Review.
Beginning in 1948, he served as counsel to the central administration of the university. In 1986, he was elected director of the Arkansas Alumni Association and served until 1992.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. today, Friday, Jan. 16, at Moore’s Chapel in Fayetteville.
