Search Begins for Associate Dean for International Education

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – Kim LaScola Needy, dean of the Graduate School and International Education has announced that a search committee has been formed to seek an associate dean for International Education. The individual selected for the post will work closely with the Spring International Language Center and will have supervisory responsibility for the following units: International Recruitment, International Admissions, Sponsored Student Programs, International Students and Scholars, and Study Abroad and International Exchange.

“The individual who takes on this position will play an integral role in developing and promoting international education on our campus, and I am confident that we will attract a strong pool of candidates” Needy said.

The half-time position is open to tenured faculty on the University of Arkansas campus. Applications submitted by Feb. 20 will be given full consideration. More information about the position can be found at the Graduate School and International Education associate dean search website.

International education is an important component of the infrastructure of the University of Arkansas campus. International enrollment has been on the rise for the past several years, and the fall 2014 semester saw a 10 percent increase in international enrollment, with a record 1,525 students enrolled from 112 countries. Furthermore, 800 domestic students studied abroad in nearly 50 countries during the 2013-14 academic year, setting an all-time high.
