Last Days to Have Your Say in the Transportation and Parking Survey

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – There are only four days left for members of the University of Arkansas community to take part in an online survey of future transportation and parking needs on campus. So far, more than 3,000 students, faculty, and staff – as well as other regular visitors to the campus – have completed the survey. The survey closes at midnight, Friday, Jan. 30.

“We want to hear from as many people as possible about their experience getting to, from, and around campus,” said Jill Anthes, campus planner and project manager. “This survey is an important part of the larger study, which will look at all of the transportation needs at the university.”

People can also use an interactive map, available online, to make direct recommendations and comments -- and see what others are saying about specific locations on campus.

“More parking garages? More bicycle lanes? Expanded bus service? Fewer cars on campus? We won’t know what people want until we hear from them,” Anthes said.

The U of A contracted with Nelson\Nygaard and Carl Walker, Inc. to help develop an effective, efficient, transit-oriented, environmentally sustainable, and financially viable transportation and parking system. The goal is to find solutions that enhance the university’s livability, strengthen the community, and address the contentious issue of parking for the next 20 years and beyond.
