Brooks Whelan Brings Comedy to the University of Arkansas

University Programs hosts comedian Brooks Wheelan at 9 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 18, in the Arkansas Union Verizon Ballroom at the University of Arkansas.

Admission for this event is free and open to the public. Admission for general public and non-fee-paying students is contingent upon seating availability and will be on a first-come, first serve basis after fee-paying students are admitted. This event is sponsored by University Programs through the Office of Student Activities and is supported by the student activities fee. A former Saturday Night Live cast member, Wheelan is bringing a night of comedy to the University of Arkansas. The stand-up comedian is best known for his appearances on Saturday Night Live, Comedy Central’s Adam Devine’s House Party, and TBS’s CONAN. In 2012 he was invited to perform at the New York Comedy Festival and he was a breakout performer at the Just for Laughs Festival.

Brooks graduated from college at the University of Iowa with a biomedical engineering degree. Throughout his college years Brooks performed regularly in local bars and opened for bands in Iowa. Later he moved to Los Angeles following his dream to perform stand-up comedy. In 2013 Brooks was hired to write for the 2013-14 season of SNL, and later was hired as a cast member for that season. On Jan. 27 this year, Brooks released his comedy album called This Is Cool, Right? on iTunes. Currently, Brooks is traveling from state to state performing his stand-up comedy act. Anyone attending this event should be ready for a night full of uncontrollable laughter and fun.
