This Week in the Visual and Performing Arts: Feb. 13-20

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – The J. William Fulbright College of Arts and Sciences will host several music performances, a lecture, a play and an art exhibition this week. Students, faculty, staff and guests are encouraged to attend these events in the visual and performing arts.

Guest artist Elizabeth Crawford will give a clarinet recital and masterclass at 10 a.m. Friday, Feb. 13, in the Choir Room, Music Building 335.

Several performances will be given Saturday, Feb. 14, in conjunction with the 2015 University of Arkansas Percussion Day. All performances will be in The Fine Arts Center’s Stella Boyle Smith Concert Hall. Van Buren High School Percussion Ensemble will perform at 10 a.m. Megan Dobbs, Nicholas Rhodes and Michael Roe will give solos at 11:45 a.m. Guest artist Gordon Stout will give a recital at 1:20 p.m., and the University of Arkansas Percussion Ensemble will perform at 4 p.m.

Music students and faculty will present the 4th annual “Bees for Bach” concert at 2 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 15, at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, 2925 N. Old Missouri Road in Fayetteville.

The University of Arkansas Saxophone Studio will give a recital at 6 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 17, in the Stella Boyle Smith Concert Hall. 

Also on Tuesday in Stella Boyle Smith, guest artist Olli Mustonen will perform a piano recital at 8 p.m.

Guest artist Radcliffe Bailey will give a lecture at 5:30 Thursday, Feb. 19, in Hillside Auditorium, room 206.

Also on Thursday, the University of Arkansas Schola Cantorum will give a concert at 7:30 p.m. in the Stella Boyle Smith Concert Hall.

Jared Aragon, Susan Nigro and Richard Bobo will give a performance at 7:30 p.m. Friday, Feb. 20, in the Stella Boyle Smith Concert Hall.

The University of Arkansas Department of Theatre presents The Foreigner by Larry Shue. The play opens at 8 p.m. Friday, Feb. 20, in the Fine Arts Center’s University Theatre. Ticket prices are $25 for adults, $15 for seniors and University of Arkansas faculty and staff and $5 for students with valid student ID. Also on Friday, Storm at Sea, an art exhibition by Radcliffe Bailey, will close. It will remain on display throughout the week in the Fine Arts Center Gallery from 9 a.m.-5 p.m. Monday through Friday and 2 p.m.-5 p.m. Sunday.
