This Week in the Visual and Performing Arts: Feb. 20-27

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – The J. William Fulbright College of Arts and Sciences will host several concerts, a film, a play and an art exhibition this week. Students, faculty, staff and guests are encouraged to attend these events in the visual and performing arts.

Storm at Sea by Radcliffe Bailey will close at 5 p.m. Friday, Feb. 20, in the Fine Arts Center Gallery.

Jared Aragon, Susan Nigro and Richard Bobo will give a contrabassoon recital at 7:30 p.m. Friday, Feb. 20, in the Fine Arts Center’s Stella Boyle Smith Concert Hall.

The University of Arkansas Department of Theatre presents The Foreigner by Larry Shue. The play opens at 8 p.m. Friday, Feb. 20, in the University Theatre. Additional performances are at 8 p.m. Feb. 21, 25-28, and at 2 p.m. Feb. 22 and March 1. Ticket prices are $25 for adults, $15 for seniors and University of Arkansas faculty and staff, and $5 for students with valid student ID. The University of Arkansas Schola Cantorum will give a concert at 7 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 21, at Saint Edwards Cathedral in Little Rock.

The University of Arkansas Wind Symphony and Concert Band will perform at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 24, at the Walton Arts Center. Admission is $1 for students with valid student ID and $5 for general public.

Nadi Cinema presents Waltz with Bashir (directed by Ari Folman,, Israel 2008) at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 25, in the Hembree Auditorium, Room 107E in the Agricultural, Food and Life Sciences building. 

Also on Wednesday, the University of Arkansas Wind Ensemble and Symphonic Band will perform at 7:30 p.m., at the Walton Arts Center. Admission is $1 for students with valid ID and $5 for general public.

The University of Arkansas New Music Ensemble will perform at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 26, in the Stella Boyle Smith Concert Hall.

Guest artist Annie Balabanian will give a piano recital at 8 p.m. Friday, Feb. 27 in Giffels Auditorium.
